Sedimentary Filling Evolution under Paleoclimate Transition—A Case Study from the Middle Jurassic Zhiluo Formation, Ordos Basin

Under a specific tectonic background, the change in paleoclimate can show different facies associations and depositional architecture. The Jurassic China continent was an important region for transforming Paleotethys domain to circum-Pacific domain, its information entirely preserved continental sedimentary successions. Middle Zhiluo Formation, Ordos Basin, at just critical period of paleostructure transition, preserving considerable sedimentological evidence; however, little research has been conducted under transition. This study reconstructed filling characteristics Formation transition based on field outcrop survey, thin section observation, geochemical indices, stratigraphic correlation, environment analysis. results showed that with from warm humid hot arid, were characterised by braided river/braided river delta J2z1-1 meandering river/meandering J2z1-2 period, finally river, delta, lacustrine J2z2 period. combined action southern super monsoon effect, increasing global CO2 concentrations, moving southward East Asian block, terrain elevation difference, changed basin’s climate semi-arid/arid. provides crucial basis reconstructing interplay between paleotectonics, guiding sedimentology paleoenvironment Asia during
